Ange Postecoglou has confirmed Jota is progressing but isn’t quite ready to return to the Matchday squad ahead of Celtic’s League Cup tie against Motherwell.

The bhoys kick off at Fir Park at 6:15pm on Wednesday night and will again be without their Portuguese winger.

They didn’t miss Jota on Saturday as they steamrolled Hibernian 6-1 at home. Even though the bhoys did well on Saturday, it will still be a major boost to get the winger back in the squad.

Speaking to CelticTV, Ange said: “Jota is progressing, he is out training but he won’t be right for tomorrow. From the weekend it will be as is.

“The closest to coming back are Turnbull and Jota, but they will miss tomorrow, we will see about the weekend.”

Callum isn’t expected back in the squad until AFTER the World Cup, but there’s an expectation we might see Carl before then.

We’ve been missing the Swede since early September when he went off injured during the Glasgow Derby. Carl is yet to play a Champions League tie for the Hoops.

Ange might tweak the team against Motherwell on Wednesday but I don’t think it’ll be a million miles away from what he put out on Saturday.
