ANGE POSTECOGLOU inherited a mess of a squad when he touched down in Glasgow. It was filled with players who were wanting away after a shambolic season. For the players who wanted to stay, he had to pick morale up before the season began.

The job was a poisoned chalice, but credit to the manager, he took it and is now top of the league, fighting for the treble.

Chris Sutton believes that if Postecoglou wins the treble this season, it’ll eclipse Martin O’Neil’s debut treble in the 2000/01 season.

That’s a bold statement, but he’s got a point.

In full, the former Celtic striker said; [Daily Record]

“I’ve been there. When Martin O’Neill put our team together back in 2000, we were title underdogs. Yet it didn’t stop us going through the card and winning a treble. It can be done.

“I’m going to be honest and say that, if Ange wins a treble this season, it will be a bigger achievement than Martin’s one given the circumstances he inherited.”

Postecoglou has done a magnificent job this season, but it’s not over yet. Of course, Celtic are in a great position to win the league.

They must face The Rangers at Hampden on Easter Sunday in the Scottish Cup semi-final. A win here, and you have to say Celtic are favourites for the treble, but we must not be complacent. Anything can happen.
