Celtic are in the market for a striker this January. Names such as Bojan Miovski and Mathias Kvistgaarden have been mentioned as potential options, but one that stands out to many supporters is Sydney van Hooijdonk.

The Dutch hitman is the son of former Hoops centre-forward Pierre, and he has long been linked with a move to Glasgow. He spoke about his future before Bologna’s match against Cagliari yesterday: “Now, I want to score and win”, he said (DAZN via RecordSport). “Then we’ll see how football goes, it’s like this, in football everything can change quickly. I’m focused on the game.”

Although the 23-year-old’s future remains up in the air, the Hoops certainly want a striker this month. There is no getting away from the links between the club and van Hooijdonk and like the player admitted, things can alter rapidly.

The Dutchman will undoubtedly be on the radar of the recruitment team in Glasgow, although he won’t be the only centre-forward on the list.

Pierre would be pleased if his son followed in his footsteps and joined the Celts, but a move seems unlikely as of yet.
