There has been one Celtic player who seems to receive abuse among everybody else on a weekly basis even though he does his job to a high standard.

James Forrest has now been out the side since September and there’s not one person who can convince me Celtic are a better team because of it.

James has had to undergo surgery to correct an ankle injury and will likely be out until the new year. Before that, the winger played in seven league games, where Celtic won 6 and drew just 1 against Kilmarnock.

This Celtic side are currently lacking the ability to penetrate in the final third, everything is being played with their back to goals and it’s constantly being our undoing. Jeremie Frimpong has been charging down the right in James’s absence but he concedes so much ground defensively at times and his final ball is very questionable.

James has been Celtic’s number one attacking mid-right for some time and while he’s not always explosive, he has turned his fair share of games in Celtic’s favour.

Christie playing out in that position sees the midfielder cut in and more often than not, take a shot which is often wayward. When James is on it, he is unplayable.

Getting the winger back in the side as soon as possible should be the backroom teams priority.

In last seasons Scottish Premiership, the midfielder managed 10 goals and 17 assists in 28 appearances. How can we not be missing that right now? There are so many who get on his back and will likely get on my back for claiming he is missed as much but there’s no doubt when you take that number of goals and assists out of a team, we can suffer.

  1. 100% agree. We can bitch and moan about what is and isn’t working but the biggest issue is attacking threat. Forrest has it in abundance and was regularly berated by supporters, despite the obvious output.

Once he decides to run defenders are on the back foot and allows the rest of our attacking players to press and put on additional pressure.

Also agree Frimpong should not be played at left back. Defensive liability.

Lennon should try switching to a 4-4-2 diamond.

Doesn’t matter which keeper though have no faith in either at the minute.

  2. Jamsie’s been soerly missed. The most under appreciated player at the club, full stop.
Every player,no matter where, can have the odd off game or two, but the Celtic support and what it’s become over the last few years, or more, can’t wait to jump on a players back in such cases, obviously not helping, or ‘ supporting’ the player just when they need it most.
I remember Big Jock standing in front of a blackboard telling the Lions before Lisbon, ‘If you see one of your team_mates having a hard time, go and help him out’. Yes, even the LL had off days and BJ recognised that even back then.

A one club player, who’s been at CP since he was nine years old, and there aren’t many of those around nowadays!

Haste ye back Jamsie Forrest..Fraser, or whatever the fk yer name is!
