Many people have questioned the Celtic Park pitch in recent weeks as the surface has looked far from its best.

Brendan Rodgers requested that a new pitch be laid in 2018 due to the style of football his side were playing which the club shelled out £1.5 million on.

It’s not always been perfect since then as it suffered a slight disease in early 2019 but it since recovered [The Herald].

The club know how important the surface is to the way in which Celtic and Ange Postecoglou’s side play football.

It can be challenging enough visiting away venues such as McDiarmid Park and Tannadice in recent weeks whose conditions have been really poor.

There is currently a lot of resources going into the pitch at Celtic Park with app technology being used to monitor the lights which are used.

After calling out experts to examine the grass, CeltsAreHere understands that the cold snap before before Christmas had a damaging effect. It was hoped that during the World Cup, it would be able to get back to its best but the grass simply didn’t grow.

In its current shape, although there is a lot of talk around the surface at Celtic Park being ‘hybrid’, it is still made up of around 95% grass.

One possible alternative which is now being considered is to double stitch the pitch in badly effected areas to prevent this happening again.
