Celtic FLOP Saidy Janko has made the very honest admission he’s not sure why Porto signed him from St Ettiene after the player made a shock move last summer.

The defender spent two years as a Celtic player, signed under Ronny Deila the right-back would only make 19 appearances for the club before he was moved on.

Porto signed him last summer prompting a bit of talk among Celtic fans who were confused by the deal. It has transpired since that the defender is also confused about the move to Portugal.

Saidy has been loaned out twice now by the club, the former Manchester Utd player was sent out to Nottingham Forest straight after signing for the club and now he has been loaned out to Young Boys.

As fate would have it, Porto have drawn Young Boys in their group and due to UEFA regulations, they cannot forbid the player from playing. Much like Patrick Roberts played and scored against Man City and Mo Bangura played against Celtic for Elfsborg.

Asked about the move to Porto, the former Celtic player believes there was a mix-up.

“I still don’t really know why Porto signed me. I think this was a misunderstanding between the President and the manager.” he told SunSport.

“The manager didn’t like my style of playing. The first I knew I would be leaving was when I read it in the newspapers. Two days later, I was on my way.

“I’ve had no opportunity to show what I can do at Porto. But that’s football for you and there’s no point getting upset about it.

“The manager, Sergio Conceicao, has never been rude to me, but I got the feeling he doesn’t rate me as a player.”

When Janko signed for Celtic under Deila there was a buzz he would come in and challenge Mikael Lustig for his place at right-back but Ronny Deila didn’t fancy him either. Lustig shaking off all challenges to his throne before he left in the summer.

Janko might be destined to be a football wanderer at this point.
