Giakoumakis pulled up against St Johnstone last week ruling him out of the Glasgow Derby at Hampden on Sunday.

The bhoys fell to a 2-1 defeat in extra time in a game that lacked any sort of quality from either side.

Maeda got the nod up front in Giakoumakis’ absence and while the man from Japan offers so much pressing and defending from the front, his attacking prowess isn’t on a par with either Giakoumakis or Kyogo.

We got Kyogo for the final 60 minutes of regular time and into extra time. The striker showed flashes of wheat he can do but tired very quickly, something you’d expect from a player who hasn’t started a match since December.

Giakoumakis being out hurt the flow of the team for sure and how we played. The bhoys took the lead in the second half but they weren’t pressing and a unit and they allowed the Ibrox side to get back into proceedings.

Giakoumakis offered so much pressing, danger and has the ability to take the pressure off our defence by winning fouls high up the park.

Ange is hoping the Greek star isn’t out too long and will join up with his teammates for the title run-in.
