The Celtic starting XI will look very different next season BUT there are a few players who we need to stick around and become the spine of a new look Hoops.

John Collin’s believes there’s one man Celtic can’t afford to lose in the summer if they’re to bounce back next term.

Speaking to the Evening Times, Collins suggested the last person Celtic and the new manager would want to lose is Callum McGregor.

“I would imagine the last player the new manager would want to leave the club would be Callum McGregor, that’s for sure.

“I know Callum very well. He is a Celtic supporter and has been a consistent performer year after year.

“I think he’s one the new manager will be desperate to keep hold of. He’s got a long contract so there’s no need to sell him due to a contract rolling down.”

Fickle fans who have watched Callum turn it on for the past five or six seasons have turned on him after a poor season.

Our social media feeds have been inundated with many fans who think he should move on. However, John Collins is absolutely spot on. A well-coached Callum McGregor is a massive asset to the team.

It’s imperative the Celtic academy graduate sticks around for the rebuild. his talent is undeniable and if the new gaffer can get Callum enjoying his football again, it will make a huge difference to the Hoops.

  1. No its not “fickle fans” its fans who are fed up seeing McGregor escape any criticism when he’s produced next to nothing since Brendan left.
A Celtic player with that number of appearances behind him & that much experience should be bossing the midfield in the big games but he is anonymous every time.
Needs to go while we can still get a decent fee
