THE TIMES has made the astonishing claim Leicester were willing to wait for Brendan Rodgers until the summer but it was the man himself who wanted to start the job immediately.

Celtic fans trying to make sense of any of this yesterday came to the conclusion Rodgers must have been pushed into signing right now, the only reason many could fathom the Irishman would pack up and leave so promptly.

However, that’s not the case according to the times who were quite happy to pay his fee and wait until he had tried to win the treble treble with Celtic before moving on.

The Times Wrote: Leicester’s Thai owners did not balk at a £6 million compensation package for Celtic and had been willing to wait until the summer for the Northern Irish manager. However, Rodgers, 46, was willing to move back to England immediately and take over at a club that are 11th in the table after a poor run under Claude Puel.

If this is truly the case then Brendan Rodgers place in Celtic history becomes even murkier.

A self-serving move during the season when he could have waited until the summer and moved on with the Celtic fans understanding. Ego is a crazy thing in football and we have all been burned by the outgoing manager. It’s hard to see how he’d be welcomed back to Celtic Park in any capacity at this point.
