It’s safe to say Celtic and Lazio have not became fast friends during their Group E encounters.

Celtic were fined by UEFA for their illicit banners during the home leg against the Italian’s which made it clear fascists aren’t welcome at the club.

In a funny turn of events, Lazio now need a favour from Celtic if they are to qualify for the next round of the Europa League.

Lazio need to beat Rennes in France and hope Celtic do the business against Cluj, even though they’re already group winners.

One Celtic fan on social media (@gmakaay) floated out a theory about how Celtic could beat Cluj but still make sure Lazio don’t go through and we’ve heard worse ideas to be honest.

In the ultimate case of fantasy booking – you take a solid squad to Cluj, and here’s the genius part, you bring Jeremy Frimpong into the starting XI. The player gets some top experience in Europe and Celtic go for the win.

By the next day, UEFA would have sent Celtic a charge for playing an ineligible player in Jeremie Frimpong, strip the club of their victory and hand Cluj the 3-0 by default! Now there’s a scenario!

Obviously, nothing like this would ever make it into reality but the idea is so genius we had to share it!
