ANGE POSTECOGLOU has spoked on what the future has to hold for Tobi Oluwayemi, who has been named on the bench a handful of times for Celtic this season.

Many fans believe that, when Hart eventually starts his decline, the young keeper will be handed the gloves.

However, the announcement of Bain’s contract extension threw a curveball but Postecoglou confirmed he has big hopes for the England Under 19 international. Speaking to Celtic TV, the Aussie said;

“Tobi is an exciting young goalkeeper. We’ve kept tabs on him, obviously he was playing with the B Team, but I feel like it’s time we expose him to that first-team environment, particularly at training.

“He’s a pretty lucky young man, because he’s got an ex-England number 1, and a guy who’s reached the very top as a goalkeeper training with him every day.

“It’s going to be priceless. I didn’t want to waste that opportunity, so we brought him up to the first team environment, he’ll be training with us regularly. And hopefully [we’ll be] watching him develop over the next couple of years.

“[There’s a] two-fold target for everything we do. There’s the immediate, the now, which is the main focus. But in the background, we’ve got to be sure we’re developing a core group of players who’ll take us through the next few years.”

The promotion of the young keeper spells the end for many at the club. The 18-year-old now looks to be the third choice at Celtic, in front of Barkas, Hazard and Doohan who is out on loan at the moment.

His first appearance will come when Ange believes he has learned and improved from working with the current group of keepers.

Contracted for a further two years, Oluwayemi has been a standout in the B side this season, impressing spectators with his fast reaction saves.

His call up to the first team will not come as a surprise to many.
