Tom Rogic emotionally announced his retirement from football on Tuesday. The Celtic invincible treble winner gave thanks for a career he ‘couldn’t have imagined’.

The news didn’t come as too much of a surprise and to his retirement message on Instagram, countless current and ex-Celts commented. Fellow Aussie Aaron Mooy said ‘Well done mate great career’, meanwhile Josip Juranovic quipped ‘Happy retirement mate! Amazing career!’.

Ryan Christie was among the well-wishers – ‘An absolute legend. Congrats on everything buddy’ – along with Jeremie Frimpong, who simply commented on the post ‘Tom’, with a love heart and praying emoji.

Another two ex-treble winners, Filip Benkovic and Mohamed Elyounoussi, also commented. The centre-half said ‘Magic wish you just the best, legend’ with the now Copenhagen attacker quipping ‘Absolute pleasure mate and enjoy your retirement’.

Current first-team star Greg Taylor said ‘Good luck TR and big congratulations’ with Beram Kayal commenting ‘Congratulations my friend’. Rogic’s fellow invincible treble-winning midfielder and 2016/17 Scottish Cup final scorer Stuart Armstrong reacted, too – ‘Pleasure to play with you Tom. Enjoy retirement’.

Christian Gamboa quipped ‘Pacho…Enjoy retirement and all the best’, whilst Dorus De Vries commented ‘great career pal. Enjoy retirement and family time’. Also among the well-wishers, rather bizarrely, was referee Bobby Madden. He said ‘Enjoy the time with your family. Congratulations and all the very best.’.

Clearly a popular figure across several Celtic squads, Rogic deserves every message he receives. He was a hugely influential figure on the pitch in his time in Glasgow, and it is certain the wishes of prosperity will continue to flood in as the days go on.
