Since becoming Hibs manager last summer, Lee Johnson has been rather outspoken on several matters whether it be the standard of Scottish football or more recently, the situation his fellow managerial competitors are in.

For all of his talk on matters that are out with his football club, his side sit fifth in the Premiership table having been knocked out of the Scottish Cup in the fourth round and the league cup at the group stage.

This is much in contrasting nature to Celtic who are nine points clear at the top of the table, in the Scottish semi-finals and have the league cup in the bag.

Nevertheless, Johnson has commented on the predicament Ange Postecoglou is in regarding domestic success whilst, granted, also praising the Australian when speaking to Glasgow Times:

“If I was Ange, I’m thinking to myself at what point does it get too easy, almost?”

The fact Johnson is considering things getting ‘too easy’ for Postecoglou goes to show far ahead of the pack the Australia has taken his side. This has been recognised, though, by the Englishman who hailed Celtic as one of the best clubs around:

“Listen – top manager, top club, top way of working, top philosophy but their challenge would feel like Europe and competing in the Champions League.”

Johnson is correct in saying one of Celtic’s biggest challenges at the minute is competing in Europe.

The Hoops dominate at home but need to start making a mark on the European stage under Postecoglou and should they bring home the title once more in 2022/23, it will give them yet another crack at the Champions League next season.
