RAPID VIENNA have thrown one last desperate throw of the dice to try and convince Vakoun Issouf Bayo and Dunajska Streda the striker should snub Celtic for the Austrian’s.

In a rather defamatory statement, the sporting director of Rapid Vienna declared Bayo’s footballing interests would be better served in the Austrian league, rather than the SPFL.

Fredy Bickel also admitted his club cannot compete with Celtic’s finances when it comes to the striker but want Streda and the player to throw that aside.

Speaking to SunSport the Director said: “We cannot compete with the Scots financially. We have offered his club less than Celtic. We know that.

“But that shouldn’t diminish our chances of signing the player.

“We are hopeful he will see that Austria is a better country for his football development than Scotland.”

We can’t blame him entirely for his warped view of Scottish Football because all he has to compare it to is what he saw when his side met Rangers*.

Vienna knocked the Ibrox club out the Europa League and were looking to bulk up their squad with a star striker for the second half of the season.

Surely he can’t be seriously asking a man to take lesser money not to play in front of 60,000 fans and become a hero in Glasgow.

Bayo is expected to sign with Celtic this week on a £2million plus deal.
