It’s an honour for any player to be selected to represent their country, and there’s no doubt Carter-Vickers deserves his place in the spotlight, although there are some concerns amongst the Celtic fans with his recent call up.

Spending the tail end of last season and the summer recuperating from surgery, the defender made his return to the green and white hoops before picking up another injury.

He was sidelined for another couple of months with a hamstring injury, and has only made his way back into the team over the past couple of matches. He made his first start since his injury against Kilmarnock at the weekend.

Carter-Vickers’ call-up comes at a critical juncture, just as he’s finding his feet post-injury. The high-intensity international fixtures, especially against teams of Germany and Ghana’s calibre, pose a risk of re-injury or fatigue.

Hoops’ fans will be holding their collective breath, hoping their man returns from international duty unscathed and ready to kick on with Celtic, with a busy run of games ahead.
