Remember Darlington Nagbe?

The USA International was a guest of Celtic when the bhoys played Barcelona back in November. After initial talks with the Celtic hierarchy and Brendan Rodgers the midfielder went back to Portland Timbers awaiting further news on a move he is desperate to land.

We now believe that Celtic and Portland have been having dialogue over the players future since November and that a deal for the player looks very much on.

While some media outlets are reporting that a layout of £3million would be needed in order to capture Darlington’s signature, the actual fee being discussed is much less with bonus incentives.

Darlington had a break out season in 2015 where he burst onto the international scene and was being hailed as one of the top footballers in the U.S. Since then his form has dipped and he’s not reached the same sort of standard which seen him fall out of favour with his national team.

The 26-year-old has ten international caps to his name and has featured regularly for Portland Timbers since 2011. It’s thought the player is looking to play in European football to improve himself outside the MLS bubble.

As everyone gets geared up for Christmas it should not be forgot that the window is opening in just under two weeks and that Rodgers has been planning for January since he came in the door.

Expect more outs than ins as the Rodgers Revolutions kicks up another notch.
