ANGE POSTECOGLOU says he’s proud of his players despite the defeat against Real Betis on Thursday evening.

The manager watched his side take a two-goal lead away from home, only to squander it in spectacular fashion, losing 4-3. It’s a pattern many Celtic teams have exhibited over the last few years. The ability to get in front but the inability to see the game out and in most cases, get anything from it.

The bhoys had a great first half an hour but after that, they looked all at sea when defending the very technically gifted Betis side.

It would have been a good game for the neutral but for Ange, it will be disappointing not to come away with at least a point.

Celtic are down to the absolute minimum when it comes to first team players.

There was nobody to turn to on the bench this evening to help turn the tide when things weren’t going our way. We can only hope we have players back in numbers for the rest of the competition.

Scoring three away from home and not coming away with at least a point is gutting.

  1. 20 minutes. It was OK for about that. As soon as they pulled one back Celtic were beat. 4-3 flatters us. It was not a close game. For the first 25 minutes of the second half they looked like they would score every time they went forward. When it went 4-2 they downed tools and our third was a consolation. Need to win convincingly on Sunday or we are right in bother as a complete collapse may be on the cards. Very limited and weak Celtic side. It is worrying that Big players are already picking up injuries keeping them out for weeks. If this is how the season is going it is going to be brutal.

  2. I agree with the above – the team looked great going forward for around 30 minutes, but once they got the 2nd goal they stopped pressuring and paid the price. The defence is useless, Ralston in particular. There is no such thing as a glorious defeat – unless Ange can get these guys to stick at it for 90 minutes he’s going to end up losing everything. The other thing is, we need to offload players like Forrest. He’s never off the sick bed, especially when it comes to big games. Cut our losses and get shot of him. McCarthy is another who looks like he’s just there to collect a wage and Soro, who is a half-decent player, is a red card waiting to happen every time. The man doesn’t know when not to make a challenge.

  3. There’s no point playing free flowing football if you can’t defend. There’s got to be a plan B at halftime I said the next goal was crucial and if we didn’t get it we could capitulate which is what happened.

As good a transfer window as we had we’ve no depth. When Ange looked at the bench there was really only James Mccarthy he could bring on. Ralston try as he does and gives it his all isn’t Celtic class, he was found out tonight and he was caught out of position on several occasions they got two goals because he was nowhere near his right back berth.

I’ve seen Liam Scales play at left back for Shamrock Rovers and he’s a really good player, I don’t know if he’s carrying a knock but he’s better there than a converted right back. When Celtic signed him I was excited as I’m convinced he’s the real deal, maybe Ange doesn’t fancy him but I don’t understand if he doesn’t. My good friend Mickey sends me Shamrock Rovers games as he supports them and I like them and he’s a standout every game I’ve seen him play.

We could’ve been 4 up before they wakened up. It seemed like an alarm clock was set for 27 minutes and when they woke they played really good stuff. They could’ve gave us a right good hiding tonight.

  4. Ange proud of his players to true we are a good team and we will get better and better our squad is in good shape young lads do not look out of places and best of all we play as a team and we play for each other things are on the up only down side how come we only had 1 water break ..
