Celtic have been on the receiving end of another shocker of a VAR decision. This time in Dingwall against Ross County.

Liam Scales had the ball in the back of the net five minutes into the game but the referee was quick to call the goal off for what he perceived was a foul in the build up by Celtic striker Oh.

The decision went to VAR and as we watched the slow motion challenge over and over again, it was clear there was not enough in the challenge to award the foul, it felt inevitable that the goal would be given, however, Andrew Dallas in the VAR room decided not to tell the on field ref to go check the screen and waved play on.

The defender has fallen to the ground knowing he’s been bested by Oh, however, the contact is not enough to pull anything back.

If this is a foul inside the box, would a penalty be given in the reverse scenario, we very much doubt it.

This is why VAR isn’t a silver bullet and can even cause more aggravation when the officials have more time and cameras to get the decision right and still don’t manage to do it.
