Vakoun Bayo was so close to making a debut for Celtic’s first team at paradise, an injury to Emilio Izaguirre cost him his first appearance. Bayo has had to take a step back to the reserve league to get some match fitness.

He got his first run out in the Hoops yesterday at Cappielow with the Celtic Reserves. Bayo lined up alongside the likes of Armstrong Oko-Flex, Scott Allan and even Marvin Compper as the bhoys ran out 4-1 winners against Falkirk. Bayo lasted an hour before being replaced by Australian Leo Mazis and acquitted himself well.

Celtic have a very serious congested fixture pile-up ahead of them. February will have seen the Bhoys playing eight games in twenty-five days. The sooner Bayo can push his way back into consideration for the first team the better. Brendan Rodgers will have to at some stage rotate his players as they are faced with three games a week. Hopefully, Bayo will be up to speed when called upon.
