It’s a sad day for the Celtic Family as we remember Billy McNeill who sadly passed away today at the age of 79.
Since the announcement, the outpouring of emotion from not just the Celtic family but the wider footballing world has been phenomenal. It’s not just Celtic but Football who recognises how significant a loss Billy is to the beautiful game.
Celtic fans have been making their way to Celtic Park today to pay their respects to a man who meant so much to them. Scarves, flowers, shirts and messages have been put beside the great man’s statue.
This afternoon, Bertie Auld and John Clark laid a wreath at the bottom of the Celtic Way with fans watching on. There were tears, applause and if you know Bertie Auld there was also a sing-song.
In a poignant moment, as Bertie stood next to his former captain’s statue, he started singing the Celtic song with fans joining in.
