Celtic youngster Barry Coffey scored his first ever professional goal and it was a belter.

The Hoops hopeful is out on loan to Cliftonville at the moment and piled on the misery for Carrick Rangers who were thrashed 5-0 on the day.

Coffey is a top prospect coming through the Celtic academy but like many of the youngsters, his development has been hurt by the lack of game time at youth level.

Celtic don’t have the infrastructure at present to help bring these bhoys on and if they don’t get loan moves it’s easy for them to fall by the wayside.

THe creative midfielder has shown positive signs and like many youngsters at Celtic, he will hope to come back in the summer and make the first team squad when a new man is appointed.

There will certainly be room for one or two young academy players in a new look Celtic and it’s up to the bhoys to make sure they are in the conversation.
