This past weekend at Celtic Park, the Green Brigade, known for their vibrant and meticulously planned tifos, faced an unexpected adversary: the wild Glasgow wind. Before the kickoff against St Mirren, the ultras group endeavoured to stir up the home crowd with a grand display, but nature had other plans.

The section, adorned with green and white plastic flags, and banners proudly declaring “Glasgow” and “Celtic,” was set for a visual spectacle. However, as the flags were raised, the harsh wind proved too much. Within moments, the “Glasgow” banner, positioned on the upper tier, was whisked upwards, becoming unreadable and shortly after, tore amidst the gusts. Quick to adapt, the supporters removed the damaged banner and repositioned the “Celtic” banner to the bottom of the stand, salvaging the display as best as they could.

The troubles didn’t end with the banners. As the players made their entrance onto the field, the brigade launched streams of colourful streamers, intended to shoot across the pitch. Instead, they fluttered chaotically in every conceivable direction, some even reaching the opposite stand, with a few streamers humorously clinging to goalkeeper Joe Hart.

The first half saw continuous wind that whipped debris across the pitch, challenging players and disrupting the game. The groundsmen were called into swift action at halftime, working diligently to clear the remnants of the tifo gone awry and ensure a smoother second half.

Despite the visual chaos, the Celtic supporters, come prepared to cheer, rain or shine—or in this case, gale-force winds. This Saturday proved that while you can plan for many things in football, the weather can always get in the way.
