For whatever reason, a fake account was set up to imitate Ryan Christie after his Scotland heroics on Thursday night.

The account, claiming to be the Celtic star was pretending to give away his boots from the game against Serbia as a thank you to the tartan army.

Only thing is, Ryan isn’t on Twitter and only uses his Instagram to keep in touch with his supporters on social media.

A lot of people did fall for it, trying to get their hands on a historic piece of what is now Scottish football history, but the official national team account put end to the charade.

Ryan scored that all-important goal on the night and looked to have sealed it until Serbia got a very late equaliser. With the player subbed just before the goal, Ryan had to watch on from the sidelines and hope his team-mates could get there. In the end, a perfect penalty shootout gave Scotland the win and their first major tournament in 22 years.
