DEDRYK BOYATA finally started his first game of the season for Celtic today after weeks of speculation surrounding the player’s future.

The Belgian refused to play in Celtic’s Champions League qualifier and subsequent Europa League qualifier earlier this week.

With Celtic thin on the ground when it comes to fit defenders the manager opted to bring the World Cup star back into the fold.

Boyata was greeted by the Green Brigade banner which said he was not fit to wear the jersey and it seemed to inspire him to put in a match winning performance.

After seeing the banner, you could see the Celtic players rally round the defender before kick off.

The defender looked unfazed and with the game at a stalemate, Boyata popped up with the winning goal in the second half to secure all three points for the champions.

The players again showed their sympathy towards Dedryk while celebrating the goal.

Even with the goal, there seems to be no proper way back for Boyata at Celtic unless Rodgers refuses to sell.
