Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis is currently in the best form of his Hoops career, coming off the back of back-to-back hat-tricks at Celtic Park, which has seen the frontman awarded with the March player of the month award.

After a difficult start to life in Glasgow, the Greek internationalist has simply hit the ground running since the turn of the year, playing a crucial part for Ange Postecoglou and his side in rising to the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Of course, Giakoumakis has done a fine job of replacing the goals and performances of a certain Kyogo Furuhashi, who has been out injured since the Boxing Day fixture with St Johnstone.

As the Japanese frontman prepares to make his return in the reverse fixture this weekend, Giakoumakis isn’t afraid of a battle to keep ahold of his starting place, instead insisting that both will have a big part to play in scoring goals in the Hoops run-in towards the end of the season.

“Actually, I’m not looking forward to the battle, he is my teammate, and we have to help the team, both of us, to score some goals and win games,” he said, as quoted by Sun Sport.

“We have to win all of them. Of course, it is a pleasure for me to play alongside Kyogo, it is really nice to have him back with us.”

These sorts of comments once again show the spirit Ange Postecoglou has created around the Celtic dressing room, with players relishing the challenge and knowing that every single player will have their part to play towards the end of the campaign.

With Giakoumakis in the form of his life at the moment and Kyogo returning, opposition defences will be frightened at the thought of facing both players within the same 90 minute period.

Both will undoubtedly come in use this weekend as Celtic look to extend their lead at the top of the Premiership.
