JACK HENDRY broke Dundee’s record for a player sold when he left the club to head to Celtic. It was in the January window two seasons ago when Brendan Rodgers needed defensive reinforcements.

At the time, there was hope Jack would come in and hit the ground running but Rodgers was reluctant to play him and when he did it was because he had no choice. The defender coming in late on for players, once during the pre-match warmup at Rugby Park when Filip Benkovic pulled up. The team would go on to lose 2-1 that day with a Rodgers side toiling early last season.

The player hasn’t been seen much under Neil Lennon, in fact, he hasn’t started a game under the current Celtic boss. With many screaming for the club to get rid of the defender, I do have a lot of sympathy for Jack.

He is a young lad, we must not forget that and whether he’s good enough for Celtic or not we should remember he’s only human. The player has hit back online at criticism before and it must be frustrating for him to read about all the criticism but have no outlet to prove those critics wrong. For the record, I don’t believe Jack will make it at Celtic but he’s by no means a bad player. We reported yesterday there could be an unlikely departure for the defender to the Portuguese league but this could just be convenient rumours with the Portugal window still open.

The Celtic player posted a Mohamad Ali quote after the deadline day window had closed when it looked like he might move to Kilmarnock as part of the Greg Taylor to Celtic deal. He stayed put and we’re now unsure of his or the club’s next move. It’s clear Neil Lennon isn’t going to utilise Hendry any time soon. If he can get a move away on loan, it would be best for all parties.
