Celtic’s very first trophy this season came in the most unusual of circumstances. The Bhoys had a back to the wall job for the majority of the cup final, it was a weird one, to say the least, but some Celtic fans felt the celebrations were even better because it was a harder defeat for the Ibrox team to take.

Celtic fans also had to watch Morelos diving every time the ball came near him, that also made the League Cup trophy all the sweeter. There were not many Celtic heroes on the day apart from big Fraser Forster and the man that got the all-important goal, Christopher Jullien.

The big French defender has been a huge success since his £7m move to the champions last summer. He has come up with some massive goals for the Hoops but the defender has singled out his winner in the BetFred Cup final as the best of the bunch while speaking on an official Celtic podcast.

“I consider every goal that I score as important. The one against Hamilton was important. The one against Lazio at home was unbelievable. But the one against Rangers was, of course, something special because we got something at the end.”

“At the end of the day, what you remember are winners. In years to come, you won’t remember the game, you’ll just remember the trophy.”

When the full-time whistle went the Ibrox players were left inconsolable as they cried their way up to collect their losers medals. The meltdown from the Ibrox fans made the win that bit sweeter.
