CHRIS SUTTON told BT Football Extra on Friday he can’t see a way back for Leigh Griffiths at Celtic if he’s incapable of lasting 90 minutes.

Leigh has been used sparingly all season and has had fitness questions hanging over him for years now. It’s been a long time since the striker grabbed 40 goals in a season for the Hoops but because of that he still has a lot of support from within the Celtic fan base.

Not only that but Callum McGregor labelled him the best finisher in the country after his late equaliser against Aberdeen.

There’s no doubt on his day Griffiths is Celtic’s best finisher but there’s not many times when he’s ‘on his day’ this weather.

Chris Sutton echoed those sentiments on the Football Extra.

“Callum McGregor has said Leigh Griffiths is the best finisher in the country.

“But Leigh needs to get himself in good enough shape so he can play 90 minutes.

“Is he a good finisher? Of course he is. Is he good for little cameos of 15 or 20 minutes if you need a goal? Yes he is.

“But would I keep him at Celtic? Not if he can’t play 90 minutes. I don’t really see the value otherwise.

“The fact of the matter is – if he’s not playing regularly then his fitness levels are going to get worse and worse.

“And that won’t suit either party.”

Celtic have a major decision to make, whether they decide to trigger Leigh’s contract to keep him at the club for another season. That decision is badly hampered by the club’s lack of success at bringing in our next manager.

So many decisions that need to be made right now are just hanging over Celtic.
