Michael Stewart was left stunned tonight when he found out how much Celtic had paid for a Reo Hatate.

The attacking midfielder put in a very impressive display for his new side. Commentators, pundits and supporters have all been waxing lyrical about Reo’s debut.

It’s only his first game in a brand new league in a new country, if that’s how he’s started, we can’t wait to see when Reo is really into the swing of things.

BBC pundit Stewart was full of praise for the Japanese star and believe Celtic have grabbed a bargain.

Speaking to BBC Sportsound Live on Monday night during the game, Stewart said:

“You look at that first-half performance from Hatate and the guy is a top-class player. There are no two ways about that. Celtic have signed an incredibly talented player.”

When the panel was discussing Hatate, his price tag of around £1.5m came up and Stewart couldn’t believe it: “You’re kidding me on? Sorry, £1.4m for Hatate? If you can get a player like that for £1.4m, that is incredible.”

It’s early days and we shouldn’t get too ahead of ourselves by burdening the player early on. The Japanese midfielder had had a positive start he can build on but I’m sure there will be rocky moments ahead as he settles down.

For Celtic, they’re looking more and more like a team and a team with depth! Celtic convincingly beat Hibs without the help of Kyogo and only a cameo from Jota – unthinkable a month ago.
