CELTIC have reportedly been scouting Connor Roberts over the past few months as a potential replacement for Mikael Lustig.

The Swansea right back has been on top form this season for his club and has attracted the attention of Premier League clubs as well as Celtic.

Connor’s current deal with the Welsh club expires in the summer and he will be free to sign a pre-contract come January. This has alerted interested clubs who would be keen to bring the player in during the January window.

Swansea and Conor Roberts’ representatives have been in talks over a new deal for some time and when asked about the reported interest in him from elsewhere, after Wales loss to Denmark on Friday, the player told the media he was leaving his new deal for his reps to sort out.

“I’ve got to keep on performing well on the pitch for club and country, that’s my job,” he told Wales Online.

“I’ve got representatives who will support me off the pitch. That’s their job to sort that out for me. At the moment I just concentrate on playing well, whether it be for club or country.”

It appears the player is keeping his options open for now.

Connor is really coming on and if Celtic managed to land the player it could prove to be a masterstroke by Brendan Rodgers.

Will the Irishman raid his old club of one of their top talents?
