According to reports this morning in the Daily Express, Celtic have been scouting Swansea defender Connor Roberts as Brendan Rodgers looks to finally recruit a new right back.

Celtic were pipped to the signing of Cristiano Piccini in the summer and Rodgers has been desperate to find a permanent solution to the problem position.

Connor, 23, is currently a first team star at Swansea but his current deal with the Welsh side finishes at the end of the season – leaving the right back open to talk to other clubs come January.

Roberts has been at Swansea since he was a youngster and has only ever left the club to go out on-loan. It remains to be seen if he’ll want to leave the club who gave him his start but if Celtic scouts are indeed looking at him it will give the player and his reps some food for thought

Mikael Lustig has slowed down in recent years and Rodgers doesn’t fancy Cristian Gamboa in the role full time.

Bringing in a full time right back and having Lustig for back up maybe Brendan Rodgers plan.

So far Connor Roberts has played 16 Championship games, scoring 2 and assisting in 2.
