A source at Dinamo Zagreb has told SunSport that they beat Celtic and Olympiakos to their new signing Luka Ivanusec.

It’s claimed Celtic offered a deal totalling £4.5m for the 20-year-old but it was staggered payments and add-ons.

Lokomotiv Zagreb decided to take the money upfront for the midfielder and the player stayed in Croatia for around £2.75m.

A Dinamo source said: “We are delighted to have recruited Luka despite the fact big European clubs like Celtic and Olympiakos wanted him.”

This sort of speculation is par for the course and the ‘Dinamo source’ will not have any real idea who made a bid for the player.

Celtic are overflowing with attacking midfielders and perhaps there was an interest earlier in the window at a push. It would appear Celtic’s name has been used to big up their new signing and to get fans excited about the deal in Zagreb.

Celtic have just two weeks left to strengthen their side before the window closes. At this moment, it’s easy to see the club are significantly short in some areas.
