ANGE POSTECOGLOU has told Celtic fans he was the one who designated Gorgios Giakoumakis the penalty taker before today’s game.

The Australian explained the decision after Celtic dropped points after having the chance to snatch all three at the death today.

Celtic fans were perplexed when the Greek forward was hovering over the ball after the penalty had been awarded. Given Juranovic was still on the field, everyone thought it would be the Croatian to take it – Giakoumakis stepped up and missed.

Speaking after the game, the Celtic manager told BBC Sportsound: “It was my decision, Giakoumakis on penalties. We’d made that decision a couple of games ago, but he wasn’t on the pitch when we got the last one so Juranovic took it.

“He was on the pitch and was the designated taker today.

“He’ll be disappointed but that’s part of being a striker – you get the plaudits when you score, when you don’t you’ve got to pick yourself, get out there again and put the ball in the back of the net.

“I’m sure that’s what he’ll do.”

Celtic missed the chance to go top of the league on the day. We’ve made a lot of forward strides, but today, as a collective, we were not good enough and there has to be real thought out into how we deal with teams like Livingston who are only on the field to operate as an eleven man human shield.

The away side got what they came for and can be happy with their efforts.

Who takes the next penalty? Will Giakoumakis get a chance to redeem himself or will Juranovic get the nod?
