ANGE POSTECOGLOU responded brilliantly to a question of him getting a rest during the World Cup break while domestic football is on ice.

Speaking from Australia, the Hoops boss laughed off any suggestion he was about to get a rest.

“A rest? Are you kidding me? There’s always things to do,” Ange Postecoglou told Celtic TV. “That’s okay. The intensity and scrutiny is a constant, because I just want us to be better. I’ll get plenty of time to switch off when I retire,”

“Right now there are important things to do and it’s my responsibility to make sure we are ready to go. The boys will have eight or nine days off and it will be good for them.

“It’s still a mid-season break so we don’t want them to get away from it totally, because we’ll need to get back into it. But the lads are really good, they are really focussed. It’s more of a mental break, with some work over that period,”

Celtic flew straight out to Australia after the SPFL shutdown until mid December. They played their two games in the Sydney Cup and are now set to to fly to Portugal for a mini pre-season camp. The Celtic gaffer wants to make sure his team are in fighting shape for the second half of the season.

Games come thick and fast for the Hoops when they return to action on December 17. Aberdeen at Pittodrie followed by a midweek game at home to Livingston and then a Christmas Eve tie three days later against St Johnstone.

The Scottish Champions find themselves nine points ahead of the chasing pack and have earned that gap with hard fought victories. Some of those results coming right at the end of games. Ange’s mantra of which he again gets across in this interview ‘We Never Stop’.

Celtic are still in the hunt in all three domestic competitions. That will be the aim, but the most important thing is winning the league for another crack a Europe next season.
