KRIS BOYD was infuriated at half time during the tie between Ross County and Celtic after the Hoops were awarded a penalty for a hand ball.

VAR looked at the incident and caught it spot on. The County player has his hand stretched out and the ball hits his hand. It’s open and shut, but bizarrley, instead of admitting it was a penalty, Boyd was raging Celtic got that penalty but Aberdeen dididn’t get one a few weeks back?!

Speaking live on SkySports, the poor pundit jibbered on, upset that Celtic had taken the lead: ‘I am just bemused. When you go back to before the international break Andy Considine’s handball against Kilmarnock, which is clearer than that, and you can’t give it.

2nd April 2023; Victoria Park, Dingwall, Scotland: Scottish Premiership Football, Ross County versus Celtic; Referee Willie Collum points to the penalty spot after a VAR check and awards a penalty to Celtic

“We were all for VAR coming in to start with you have got to be honest it has been a shambles. The inconsistency with the whole thing is why people are still speaking about if for the wrong reasons.

“You look at the one against Kilmarnock that wasn’t given and the one today…you just don’t know what you are turning up to do you. It’s the inconsistency. Some referees will give it, and some won’t.

“That’s why I’m glad I’m sitting here and I’m not a manager. When you look at some of the decisions that have been given you would be going off your head wouldn’t you?” Boyd later appeared to have a dig at Celtic fans, adding: “I’m sure there won’t be any complaints about referees this weekend anyway.”

It’s absolutley ok to say Aberdeen should have had a penalty a few weeks ago, but it doesn’t make the incident at Dingwall any less of a penalty.

If he wants to dig up inconsitincies in the hand ball rule, we’d suggest he look closer to home. His former team appear to get the rub of the green and did so when Connor Goldson volleyball punched a Celtic shot wayward and nothing was given.

Watch out for the narrative Celtic got a decision for them in the lead up to the derby next week.

  1. Nothing more than preparation for cheating next week ! ….and the semi. “these things even out..ya de ya etc., etc.,” As for bawjaws, I enjoyed his pain and torn face talking louder than his words ! ouch ! He certainly won’t be mentioning the team that no one is allowed a penalty against. And for those two clowns commentating, going on about Celtic losing the first goal so often recently… those were penalties in most cases and don’t point to major defensive flaws as they tried to imply.
