Leicester boss, Claude Puel confirmed in a press conference last week he wants Filip Benkovic to stay at Celtic for the remainder of the season.

The Premier league manager sees the value in the Croatian getting a full season under his belt at Celtic, however, he made the statement with the caveat ‘as long as there are no bad injuries’ meaning it still isn’t 100% certain.

Rodgers made it clear the club has had no confirmation yet about his stay.

“We haven’t had confirmation but it would be great for Leicester, for Filip and for us.” he told CelticTV.

“He’s shown that, at 21, he’s a big talent. Every challenge he’s had since he came here he’s been first-class in dealing with.”

Celtic will probably not know for sure until late on in the window which isn’t ideal but having the option of a player of his quality is sometimes going to have drawbacks.

Boyata and Benkovic have made quite the formidable partnership and could help Celtic to the knockout stages of the Europa League if they remain firm in Celtic’s last two games.

The bhoys fly out on Wednesday for their crunch tie with Rosenborg hoping to take a giant step towards.
