When we announced the team news earlier, we assumed Callum McGregor was getting a much-needed rest. The Celtic midfielder has played more football than any other player in world football this season.

Unfortunately, we were wrong, Brendan Rodgers has just confirmed that McGregor is out with an injury. The box to box man has been ever-present for Celtic this season with some fans already labelling him their player of the year.

There was no news pre-match on how long the Scottish International will be absent for. The sooner he is back for selection the better. The midfielder has been ever-present since Brendan Rodgers took charge. Under Rodgers McGregor’s game has come on leaps and bounds. He is Celtic’s mister versatile, he has played all over the park under Rodgers and looked comfortable in every position.

Nir Bitton and Ewan Henderson have been trusted to come in and do a job in place of McGregor and the suspended Scott Brown. Bitton is making his first start of the season while Henderson will make his first start for the Hoops.
