He had managed to shake off a problem with his ankle, but only to go to ground and dislocate his shoulder a few minutes later.

After he was taken off, you could see the team were a little bit unsettled and were riding it out until the break.

Goals from Bernardo and Kyogo sealed the win for Celtic, despite Rangers’ late consolation.

Brendan Rodgers had to turn to Maik Nawrocki during the first half, a player who has hardly featured since arriving from Poland in the summer.

In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, the manager addressed Stephen Welsh’s injury.

Brendan Rodgers said, “He continually gets a knock and gets injured as his shoulder popped out and we will see how that pans out in the next couple of days.

“Maik Nawrocki hasn’t featured much but I was delighted for him and he has come back in and he has had some knocks and been injured and for him to come in and play and contribute.”

The win for Celtic meant it was the first defeat for the new Rangers manager to face, and he’s not taking it too well. Post-match he had a meltdown complaining about a handball not being awarded, despite an offside in the build-up.
