After a lacklustre 0-0 draw with St Johnstone at Parkhead, Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers faced the ire of the Celtic fans.

When the referee called for full-time, boos rang round Celtic Park, with the crowd showing their discontent.

Far from shying away from the criticism, Rodgers expressed his understanding for the fans’ frustrations. While the Hoops dominated possession and had multiple opportunities to score, they were unable to capitalise and secure a win—much to the disappointment of their fans and manager alike.

In a BBC Sportsound interview, Rodgers offered his take on the situation. “I totally understand it,” he admitted. “When you have a performance level like that at home, especially against a team that hasn’t had much success this season, failing to score or secure three points is not what we or the supporters expect.”

Rodgers continued, saying, “Managing or playing for a club like this, you must have the personality to produce results. If you fall short, the criticism will come your way, and you have to be prepared to improve things. We’re still early in the season, but there’s a lot of work ahead.”

Rodgers’ acknowledgement of the fans’ discontent serves as an acute reminder of the mounting pressure to turn the team’s fortunes around, both for him and the squad.

With pressing challenges ahead, including the emotionally-charged Glasgow Derby next sunday, the team will need to make rapid improvements to meet the high expectations that come with wearing the Celtic jersey.
