Celtic did a lot of business on deadline day and it’s not just the incomings we should be excited about.

The news that Ewan Henderson would be spending the full season on loan to Ross County should also be big news to Celtic fans.

The midfielder got some game time last season and didn’t look out of place both under Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon. As the season wore on and things got more intense the Celtic manager chose to use more experienced members of his midfield to land the treble treble. This term, Ewan hasn’t started a game for the club which was concerning for the player’s development.

The loan move to Ross County gives Ewan the chance to blossom and come back to Celtic a better player if he can make an impression with the Staggies. The talent is there and Ewan knows the opportunity to come back to Celtic after the season and stake his place in the team is very real.

Ewan says he’s buzzing to get going and also told fans what Neil Lennon said to him before he headed out to County.

“Neil Lennon said it was a chance for me to develop and then come back to challenge for a first-team place.” Ewan told SunSport.

“I just need to get my head down and work hard. Ryan Christie went out on loan and did unbelievably well at Aberdeen, so it shows what can be achieved.

“I’m buzzing about the move. It’s a good chance for me to play regular first-team football.”
