The United States World Cup squad has been leaked before it’s official announcement and includes Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers [Daily Mail].

Official confirmation of the squad will be released today but it looks as though the Hoops vice-captain will be heading to Qatar later this month.

Gregg Berhalter’s side are in a group alongside England, Iran and Wales and will be hoping to make as big an impact at the tournament as the last time they were there in 2014 as they finished ahead of Portugal to qualify for the knockout stages.

Having been out the international side for almost three years, Carter-Vickers is right back in the fold for his international side and his hard work in the Hoops appears to have paid off.

The 24-year old has been on an incredible journey having recently captained Celtic in the Champions League after six Championship loan spells with him now finding a home to play his football.

He has been imperative to the success which Celtic have enjoyed under Ange Postecoglou, bringing a calmness to defence and consistently performing having played alongside multiple defensive partners.

Whenever he is not in the Hoops starting line-up he is undoubtedly missed. Carter-Vickers is thoroughly deserving of this opportunity after all his endeavours to get to this point of selection for the tournament.
