Reports in some papers have Celtic and four other clubs locked in a transfer battle for ex-Partick Thistle youngster Liam Lindsay. The player currently at Barnsley has a 5 million pound price tag for his services.

Celtic’s competition for the Scottish defenders signature is Villa, Brighton, Leeds and Stoke City. Celtic who have a massive transfer window coming up in the summer will be in crisis mode to sign quality defenders. At this moment in time, four Celtic defenders are due to leave Parkhead in the summer.

Lindsay only left Partick Thistle in 2017 for a fee of around £360,000. It is understood Thistle had a 10% sell on clause as part of that fee according to the Daily Star.

Barnsley are enjoying a good season that has see them pushing for promotion from League One. They currently sit second behind Luton and this has caused Lindsay’s stock to rise after a string of impressive performances.

With so many defenders leaving Paradise in the summer the club will be linked with every possible available player.
