It has been claimed Marian Shved was on his way out of Celtic on January but the bhoys scuppered the deal because they wanted Marian closer to home at an English speaking club.

Reports over this weekend claim the rarely seen midfielder was happy to go out on loan to Spanish second division side Lugo but Celtic weren’t for it.

Shved’s Ukranian pal and Lugo’s Ukrainian defender Vasyl Kravets told RecordSport, Shved wanted the move but it was Celtic who weren’t interested.

“Marian almost signed for us on loan in the last transfer window. He was happy to come here.

“But Celtic blocked the move. They wanted him to sign for a team that was closer to Glasgow.

“He would only be allowed to move to a team where he could communicate in English, so the deal was off.”

Neil Lennon and the club obviously feel the player would benefit and perhaps integrate better if he was to pick up the language.

No loan deal however has saw Shved play a small cameo in a Scottish Cup tie but nothing else. It’s a strange thing – he clearly has talent but there’s a reluctance to give him a chance.

Celtic were flying at the start of 2020 before the shut down and the midfielder could have done with any sort of regular game time – English speaking or not.
