According to reports this morning, Celtic are closing in on a move for Aurélio Buta and it could be formalised as early as today.

The Hoops are currently in Denmark ahead of their Champions League qualifier on Wednesday night but the club are still working behind the scene’s to fill vital positions into the squad.

Buta is a right back and currently plays for Antwerp.

Belgian journalist Florian Holsbeek has claimed the deal is close to being done.

Celtic are crying out for a right-back. The 24-year-old Portuguese defender started his career off at Benfica back in 2018. He has played for the Portugal under 20’s side in the past and has represented his country at many age levels. The right-back has yet to get a full cap for Portugal.

Buta has made over 100 appearances for the Belgian side and is looking to take a major step in his career.

Celtic could offer the defender a chance to shine, develop more and then be sold for a higher fee in the future.

We will keep an eye on this deal.
