TONIGHT, veteran Scottish football pundit, Hugh Keevins, told listeners on Superscoreboard Celtic have made contact with Eddie Howe over the vacant manager’s position.

There has been so much speculation in the past week or so, there’s not one key favourite for the job. Celtic supporters have their own favourites and if you would poll a large swathe of the fan base, Eddie Howe is a name that would crop up more of than now.

Here’s what Keevins had to say:

“I do offer this to you purely as speculation but I do understand that, Eddie Howe has been spoken to by Celtic but  is also being spoken to, by other clubs in England.” Hugh Keevins told SSB.

Keevins has nothing to gain from bringing this information to light if it wasn’t true. The journalist didn’t pretend to be in the know but he’s been in and around the game long enough to know many people in it.

It should encourage Celtic fans the club look like they’re covering all bases and they’re at least asking the question of popular fan choices.

The problem with Howe is, he will be in demand come the summer. If Celtic want the manager, they’d need to move quick for the Englishman.

He’s a coach who could improve what we currently have but also help build the squad for the next 3-4 years.
