In the latest issue of the Celtic View is an exclusive with Celtic daft, Irish boxer Michael Conlan. In the interview, the Belfast Bhoy talks about his affection for Celtic and his ring entrances which have caught the imagination of Celtic fans over the past year.

“I’ve been a Celtic fan all my life. The songs that are sung in Celtic Park are close to my heart and close to every Celtic fan’s heart. The fact that I’m able to play them in a boxing atmosphere means a lot to me. You can see how attached people are to those songs and how they affect them emotionally.”

Conlon got robbed of gold at Rio back in 2016 with a mind-boggling decision from the judges. After the Olympics, the boxer went pro and he hasn’t looked back since. Last night at MSG, Michael had his chance for revenge against the Russian fighter that took gold from him in Rio.

The Belfast Bhoy won on a very dominant points victory last night against Vladimir Nikitin. The judges made no mistake this time with 98-92, 99-91 and 100-90 in favour of Conlon.

The featherweight landed several hurtful body shots that sucked the fight out of Nikitin. The Celtic fan has now extended his unbeaten record to 13 victories as a professional. It is another famous sports person declaring their love for the Hoops and maybe Conlon will be paraded at Celtic Park in the near future with a world title.
