Celtic’s game against Lille away has been thrown into chaos after it emerged on Wednesday evening the country of France is set to go under a 9pm to 6am curfew to curve the spread of the virus.

This will be in force for at least four weeks, as reported by Record Sport.

Celtic are due to play the French side in France on October 29.

This could be a major problem with the game set to kick off at 7pm local time. The game would be over before nine but anyone at the game would still be in the stadium and breaking curfew at this point.

Football has been given special dispensation to continue but Celtic will have to check with UEFA about how to proceed as they navigate through these unprecedented times.

There’s scope for a neutral venue if Lille can’t host the game. An earlier kick off might come into play where many Celtic fans could be commuting home while the game is taking place.

It’s yet another pitfall for football outside our own domestic bubbles.
