Celtic were provisionally given the go ahead to host 24,500 supporters for the first home game of the season against Dundee and this evening they’ve confirmed they have been given the green light.

The club website confirmed today ahead of the SPFL returning at the weekends

Celtic Chief Executive Dom McKay said: “I would like to thank our fans for all the fantastic support they have given us in reaching these levels. I would also like to thank all our staff for their efforts and hard work in allowing us to reach this stage, as well as the Safety Advisory Group for all their co-operation.

“We will be doing all we can to work closely with the relevant authorities and welcome our fans back in even greater numbers in the coming weeks.”

If all goes well, the shackles could come off shortly after the Dundee game. If Scotland moves beyond level 0 as planned on august 9, there could be full bourses by the following weekend.

We would prefix this by saying everything is open to last minute changes and the government could still move the goal posts before then.

It’s getting back to a sense of normality on the coming months and having large crowds inside the stadium to cheer on the players.

It’s been a very long and difficult road for us all but there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

Fans will be balloted for the Dundee game and will be notified in due course.
