Celtic youngster Adam Montgomery has been spotted back at Lennoxtown training alongside the first team [Scottish Sun].

The 20-year-old spent the first half of this season out at fellow SPFL Premiership side St Johnstone having already made 17 appearances for the Perth club.

Callum Davidson’s side are keen on keeping the services of the Celtic academy graduate for the rest of the season but he is back at the Hoops for the time being. It was surprising to see him back as many believed his St Johnstone deal would be extended without the need for a return to Glasgow.

Montgomery featured quite prominently under Ange Postecoglou after the Australian arrived at the club last season as he had little options in defence.

He was well deserving of the league winners medal which he picked up at the end of the campaign as his most notable contribution was his brilliant assist for Jota at Pittodrie in early October which earned the Hoops their first win on the road since February in 2021.

Following on from this, he made the switch north to the Dons in January last year but his game time was cut short after he sustained hamstring injury which kept him out for almost two months.

There’s no doubt that Montgomery is a real talent but will need more game time in order to fulfil his potential at the club although he didn’t look too out of place last season.
