Celtic striker Jonathan Afolabi has been hit with more disruption at his loan side Ayr United after manager David Hopkin departed the club this afternoon.

The 21-year old made his move to the Scottish Championship side this summer and has struggled a little, to begin with, still waiting on his first start.

On Tuesday night, the Honest Men were defeated 2-0 by Raith Rovers, with the Hoops Irish striker being sent off for a rash challenge. The result in that game has now led to Hopkin resigning from his role with the club.

This is Afolabi’s third loan deal in the Championship in the past three seasons, spending time with Dunfermline and Dundee in previous years.

He has yet to make the impact that some may have been looking for and is still to show that in his five substitute appearances for his current side.

It could be a big few months for the Irishman. If he can kick on and show that impact, there is a chance that Ange Postecoglou might look to give him another shot in pre-season as he did this campaign.
